“But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites, because they were to carry on their shoulders the holy things, for which they were responsible” Numbers 7:9

Offerings were brought to Moses at the dedication of the Tabernacle; among those were carts and oxen that would be used to aid the Levites in their work at the Tent of Meeting.  Moses distributed the carts and the oxen to the Levites but the Kohathite branch of the Levites received none.  The Kohathites were to “care for the most holy things.”  (Num. 4:4)  They were to carry those things on their own shoulders.

Has the Lord ever asked you to care for a work, a ministry, or provide some form of service? Have you ever wondered why you were alone in your duties?  Could it be that God entrusted you with a most holy thing and that He set you apart to carry that thing on your own shoulders as He did the Kohathites?

If this is so, you may want to consider the rest of the story.  When the Kohathites brought their load to the new resting place of the Tabernacle, everything was to be set up and waiting. (Num. 10:21)

You may be called to carry a most holy thing for the Lord and when you reach your destination, everything else may be in place and your burden may be the final piece that will usher in the presence of the Lord.

If you are carrying a load on your own shoulders and it seems that everyone else is receiving help with theirs, do not grumble or complain but thank God that you have been entrusted with His most precious things.
